BMW is betting on AI
BMW plans to cut around 20% of its senior management roles by mid-2027. According to Bloomberg, the changes will affect senior vice presidents and the management tier below them. The agency estimates that approximately 100 senior managers will be affected.
The company links its simpler management structure to a broader use of artificial intelligence. BMW expects to make its processes more flexible and efficient and speed up decision-making.
These changes are part of a voluntary departure programme aimed at reducing costs and improving profitability. According to Bloomberg, the company also reached an agreement with employees in July to cut around 8,000 jobs — approximately 5% of its global workforce.
